Thremer
Thremers
Thremers were a Beastfolk people created by the Life Wardens through the Bioweaving of Humans with arachnids. Their creation built upon techniques developed by the allied Bloodhorn Wardens while producing the insect-derived Kitari, whose successful stabilization had demonstrated methods for incorporating radically different arthropod anatomy into a Human subject. The Life Wardens adapted this knowledge to Arachnida, creating a new people uniquely suited to Naja's immense forests.
Thremers possessed six arms, two legs, and numerous eyes, making them the most heavily limbed of the sapient peoples. Their many hands gave them exceptional climbing ability and dexterity, while their additional eyes provided excellent awareness within the dense and visually complicated forest canopy. They became particularly effective canopy defenders, able to climb and maneuver through branches while keeping several hands free to wield bows, carry equipment, or fight.
Creating an entirely new people also carried strategic advantages. Thremers existed initially only within Naja, leaving no foreign population whose loyalties could be exploited by another faction. Like other peoples, they were notoriously reluctant to fight their own kind, making their isolation an additional safeguard against their abilities being turned against Naja.
Their unusual anatomy inspired persistent folklore among other peoples. Thremers were commonly rumored to spin webs, possess venom, or carry other dangerous arachnid traits, despite lacking such abilities. These stories became particularly common among children and contributed to a longstanding reputation for Thremers as strange or unsettling, despite their place as an otherwise ordinary people of Naja.
