Species Height Baselines

For scale, Riftmoor uses a 6-foot Human man as the standard baseline. This represents an easy reference for an adult warrior male, not the literal average height of a male Human.

The true Human average is likely somewhat shorter. Women are generally shorter than men, some individuals fall well below the baseline, and particularly tall Human men may approach or exceed 7 feet.

The same principle applies to every species below. These heights represent a convenient standard adult male reference, not a fixed height or maximum. Individuals vary naturally by sex and individual genetics much as Humans do.

The Hob condition increases size as well as strength, though the effect varies between Virborne species. It is particularly dramatic in Goblins, raising the male reference from 3.5 feet for a Goblin to 5 feet for a Hobgoblin.

These numbers should therefore be used for consistent visual scale, while allowing natural variation. A 6-foot Human is standard for reference, but a very tall Human might be 7 feet; likewise, a 9-foot Hob-Orc is standard for reference, while an exceptionally tall one might reach 10 feet.
