Muthen

Muthen were a Beastfolk people created by the Ice Wardens through the Bioweaving of Humans with mammoths. Created to populate and operate within the Wardens' most extreme cold domains, they were large, powerful, heavily insulated people distinguished by trunks, tusks, and dense cold-adapted bodies.

Although the original population was uniformly mammoth-like, the Bioweaving had stabilized across Proboscidea. Muthen remained within frigid environments for so long that this went largely # unactualized. Only after populations migrated into warmer regions—often spreading through the comparatively open domains of Vah-Yu—did later generations begin expressing elephant and other phenotypes. Mammoth traits nevertheless remained strongly associated with the Muthen due to their ancestry and long early history in the frozen realms.
