Crustaceanfolk

Crustaceanfolk originated among the Haventide Stingray, created as hardy amphibious Heirs suited to reefs, harbors, shipyards, salvage, construction, and naval warfare. Their donor stabilized broadly across Crustacea, producing naturally armored people capable of breathing both air and water. They possessed an asymmetrical build, with one heavily armored shoulder and powerful pincer balanced by a smaller, highly dexterous hand. Their naturally stern features often made them appear perpetually irritated regardless of temperament.
Crustaceanfolk became particularly associated with the boundary between land and sea. They built floating towns, trading posts, artificial islands, buoy-stations, shipyards, and offshore outposts, eventually spreading far beyond Haventide. This tradition followed them into the spacefaring age, where many found a familiar niche aboard stations, orbital shipyards, trading platforms, and other artificial habitats. Whether surrounded by ocean or empty space, Crustaceanfolk became remarkably comfortable with the same basic proposition: when there was no ground to settle, they built their own.
