Three familiar bodies provided natural reference points: the star of the Reach established the unit of Stellar Mass and Size ☉, Riftmoor established World Mass ⨁, and Hep—the largest and nearest of the Reach's giants—established Giant Mass ♃.

These three units provided a simple shorthand for measuring and comparing the stars, worlds, and giants encountered as the Wardens carried mortals into new systems.
