The Pack, one of the 4 Societies

The Great Siege left the kingdoms victorious, but countless ordinary people saw only ruin. Wardens had waged another war, rulers had demanded another generation of sacrifice, and in the end the common folk had buried far more of their own than any Warden ever had.

Among these disillusioned people rose a druid wanderer, often taking the form of a great wolf, remembered only as Old Fang.

He taught that no throne, emperor, Warden, or king could ever truly be trusted. Every ruler, no matter how noble their beginning, would eventually demand another life in service of some greater cause. If freedom was to endure, it could not be granted from above—it had to be lived.

Those who shared his conviction abandoned the kingdoms altogether. Settling the forests, mountains, and forgotten places between nations, they formed no kingdom of their own. Instead, scattered clans remained bound only by shared customs and the legend of the Old Fang. Their druids mastered the wilderness itself, allowing them to hide from those who would govern them and defend themselves whenever that freedom was threatened.

Though outsiders called them bandits, rebels, or savages, the Pack saw themselves differently. They had simply refused to replace one master with another.
