Fairbarrow
Fairbarrow, one of the 8 Nations

They settled the gentle hills that would become Fairbarrow, where fertile soil and peaceful valleys fostered a culture of learning rather than conquest. There, knowledge was cultivated as faithfully as the earth itself. Great Forums rose where farmers debated philosophers, artisans instructed nobles, and music carried as much weight as politics.
Though firmly loyal to the Empire, the Barrowers gradually became a people apart. They governed themselves through public assemblies rather than imperial decree, valuing persuasion over authority and curiosity over ambition. The Wardens encouraged this arrangement, finding it useful to entrust education and scholarship to those who delighted in such pursuits.
For generations, Fairbarrow became the intellectual heart of the Empire. Its scholars advised emperors, trained magistrates, and preserved much of the ancient knowledge that survived the fall of the First Kingdom.
The Fox

Most bards set out upon the roads together, welcomed in villages, courts, and capitals wherever they travel. They entertain, negotiate, teach, chronicle, and inspire, gathering the stories of distant peoples before returning home to enrich Fairbarrow once more. Their elegant rapiers reflect the same philosophy as their words: graceful, disciplined, and persuasive rather than brutal. The Fox understand that civilizations grow stronger not by standing apart, but by sharing their stories with the world—and bringing the world's stories home.
The Tiger

The Tiger are the living heroes of Fairbarrow, believing that greatness exists to be witnessed. Where others celebrate duty, they celebrate daring, embracing impossible charges, glorious duels, and victories that will be remembered for generations. Their knights ride in brilliant companies with long lances and pikes leveled beneath fluttering banners, crashing into enemy formations with breathtaking speed and precision before wheeling away for another devastating strike. Elegant duelists wield slender rapiers with impossible confidence, while wandering champions seek out tyrants, monsters, and enemy commanders alike, eager to prove themselves before cheering crowds. Their armor is polished to perfection, their standards vibrant, and their victories immortalized almost as quickly as they are won. The Tiger know defeat is always possible, but they refuse to let fear temper their ambition. Better to attempt the impossible and inspire the world than to live cautiously and leave no story worth telling.
The Otter

The Otter believe civilization is built one good idea at a time. They are parent guild of inventors, designers, craftsmen, enchanters, tinkerers, merchants, and makers who dedicate themselves to improving everyday life through ingenuity and practical innovation. While others pursue discoveries for power or war, the Otter ask a simpler question: "Wouldn't it be wonderful if?" They utilize Rift crystals in new useful enchanted tools and objects, refine familiar designs, and create the inventions that quietly shape daily life across the world. Better lanterns, saddles, printing presses, ingenious tools, musical instruments, toys, and countless small conveniences all bear their unmistakable influence. Fairbarrow protects the rights of inventors, rewarding those whose ideas improve the lives of others. Their greatest honor is not conquest, but creating something so useful that it becomes indispensable. Visitors leave carrying Otter inventions home, and with them, a small piece of Fairbarrow itself. Here, the greatest legacy is not a monument, but an idea that makes the world just a little better.
